Ultimate Home Cinema

Project brief

Firstly, this bespoke home cinema was part of a larger project during a whole home renovation. We were contracted to convert a large barn into a home cinema suitable for the whole family to enjoy.

The home cinema installation would primarily serve for movies, but it would also cater to watching box sets and the client’s extensive movie collection.

The projector would need to be 4K HDR to handle the latest content. The surround sound should provide a consistent experience regardless of where you are seated in the space.

The room had to be able to seat 8-12 people and have minimalist, modern look with futuristic features.

Our solution

The house is a listed period property with striking features. It has an oak and brass theme running throughout. We decided to use these materials to make a natural break in the room, and used brass to trim the edges of all linear lighting features.

Additionally, we chose to add louvres to the ceiling to give the room a futuristic look and give us a space to run cables and hide the height channels of the surround sound. Similarly, we built out the side, front and rear walls to create void to hide in wall speakers and subwoofers.

For Projection we opted to create a comms area at the back of the room. Sitting the projector in there so there was just a projection hole at the back of the room.

Finally, for surround sound we opted for a 7.4.4 configuration to ensure we could please everyone. No matter where they were seated in the room, creating a bespoke home cinema.
